Change your initial password to a permanent password

Your date of birth in YYYYMmmDD format

• Mmm is the first 3 letters of the Month
  • January = "Jan", February = "Feb", etc.
• Example: January 1, 1993 = 1993Jan01

Your initial password gives you 3 grace login sessions.

1. Go to password.niu.edu and click on "Change Your Password."
2. Enter your Z-ID in the AccountID field and click Next
3. Click on your Z-ID.
4. Set up your verification questions
   1. Enter your inital password in Current Password field
   2. For the first verification question, choose a question from the drop down menu and answer it
   3. For the second question, make up your own question and answer it
   4. Click Save
   5. Click Continue
5. You are back at the beginning menu. Click on Change Password again
6. Enter your Z-ID in the AccountID field and click Next
7. Click on your Z-ID
8. Enter your initial password in "Old Password." Enter a new password in "New Password" and "Verify Password."

This password expires every 130 days - reset it at password.niu.edu.
