Get your NIU e-mail on your phone
Students, faculty and staff with access to a full-featured POP3 or IMAP e-mail client can get NIU e-mail on their phone.
However -
Know your ISP's data charges.
ITS offers best-effort support only.
In general, POP and IMAP are "non-secure" e-mail transfers from your NIU mailbox to the device.
IMAP deletes mail from your mobile device and your NIU mailbox.
For students, deleted mail is not recoverable.
POP3 does not delete mail from your NIU mailbox so you must periodically delete messages from your NIU mailbox.
ITS recommends using NIU e-mail applications and systems whenever possible. They are the most secure, reliable, and have the best level of support.
